Hi Friends,
As one might intuit from my sparse correspondence, I don’t write like I used to. Sometimes I get nostalgic for those times where I wanted to share everything. Like the photo above, writing from a decade ago shows a vitality that today is more reserved. Eagerness has been replaced by greater patience and preference for serenity. As a new cycle begins I am called to notice what is unique to this turning and what is inherited from past incarnations. Consistency of practice wedded to an always adaptive present.

I observed my 45th birthday the other day. Through the week I enjoyed and contended with many of the familiar activities I engage with on a daily/weekly basis. There were even one or two “special” or rare events that arise as they do. These too had there balance of excitement and anxious energies. The routine and the uncommon generally contain potential for both. I find it is in the mundane where we are sometimes less apt to pay attention and wonder may be forgotten. To solve this one might follow a map. Ironically, a map might allow us to focus less on where we are going and more on where we are. When one knows they are on a path, we can be less worried about orienting and more absorbed in moving forward.

In the tradition of the magic square, the 45th birthday marks the beginning of a cycle, like a new born infant, a 9 year old, 18, 27, 36, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90, or 99. An aperture widens and we are invited to enter a new emerging:
(1)In the beginning all was formless. (2)Clouds form, and eventually (3) rain falls. (4)An ocean amass; given time the great sea recedes (5) and land appears. (6) The soil produces vegetation and eventually (7) a fruitful summer is upon us. In time (8) the days grow shorter and the nights colder. Fullness turns to bone (9) and a time of reflection invites us to mourn the passing of an age or celebrate what may arise in the next (10).

As things transition both with the personal meta-cycle, and the approaching seasonal transition, some changes are on the horizon to my professional life. In the immediate I am subbing a special handstand class this Tuesday July 28th at 6pm at Root and Branch Bodywork. Keep an eye out for next month’s schedule as Elliott Gittelsohn resumes building the handstand program at our beautiful studio. I am currently taking on new clients interested in personal training and/or Yoga and movement instruction. For in person personal training meeting at Root and Branch Bodywork in Mt Airy is generally preferred, though in home appointments can be accommodated where this is the better fit and virtual sessions are an option for folks who are further away. I have been very serious about returning to my musical roots these past several years and am very interested in taking on more violin students. In both music and movement I have worked with students from ages 5 - 85, the time is always right to find greater capacities for self exploration and expression.

In the slightly more distant a couple workshop announcements are on the way in the next couple weeks.
I look forward to connecting soon.
