Hannah works in awe of the innate human power to create, nurture, and sustain life. As a doula, Hannah affirms this strength in her clients and their loved ones while supporting them through the transformative process of pregnancy and childbirth.
Hannah’s passion for birth was kindled in 2012, when she supported a friend’s homebirth and later completed her DONA Birth Doula training. In 2016, Hannah became a certified Birth Doula under DONA international.
Outside of her work with the Philly Doula Co-op, Hannah is a proud member of the Maternity Care Coalition’s Community Doula Program, where she does her part to make childbirth support accessible to all Philadelphians while building strength in the grassroots movement of community birth workers. She is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor and currently teaches prenatal yoga at Yoga Movement Sanctuary.
Hannah is grateful to have attended trainings with internationally acclaimed Doula and Educator Penny Simkin, natal yoga experts Beth Donnelly Caban and Lara Kohn Thompson, as well as several leaders in the Philadelphia birthing community. She is currently apprenticing in the art of placentophagy with Caroline Ashurst M.Ac, Dipl.AC of Restorative Harmony Acupuncture and Placenta Services.
Hannah fluidly integrates her background as a herbal medicine enthusiast, skilled farmer, community organizer, experienced peer counselor, and passionate educator to serve clients in the most therapeutic, creative, and empowering way possible.
Hannah graduated with Honors from Oberlin College, where she utilized the visual art and dance departments to connect her concentrations in African American Studies, social justice movements, and sustainable farming/community food systems.
Hannah is grateful to be a member of the Philly Doula Co-op and believes that building community through birth allows us to celebrate our humanity, take pride in in our health, and grow closer to our emotional, spiritual, and physical strength.
